Tips for memorable family photos

"Attention ... all eyes to the camera ... say cheese!" Approaching the time when families and groups of friends will gather around the table for holidays we all dress up, relax and do as much as we can to enjoy the moments together. Getting together is and good occasion to tell and create stories! According to us a memorable happy ending is a photo album with snapshots captured on this occasion.

To make sure that your memories stay with colorful and perfect we have gathered below some "golden" guidelines that will make everyone "look good in the picture".

Decoration

When talking about group shots, the centerpiece is, of course, people who smile to the camera. So most suitable backgrounds shall not compete with the figures photographed for the viewer's attention. In other words, avoid heavily decorated walls, rich natural landscapes, other groups of people or any other noisy background. Otherwise, focus of the viewer will be distributed throughout the composition and photographed people will occupy second place.
We recommend single-color backgrounds (or a limited number of colors) and without patterns (stripes, polka dots, embellishments, etc.).

Light

Whatever you do, avoid contre jour camera shots - the image will be burned and contrast or clarity of the figures will be diminished. Avoid also to portray when the light is strong and straight down the face of the people photographed - it will result in facial shadows (eyebrows, nose) all flat, and overall composition will be one with hard lines and rough contours.
The best light is natural, indirect (for example next to a window) and I warmly recommend afternoon light, which has excellent strength and tone portraits.

Posture

Of course, we all want to look our best in photos and to send a positive state. Few, however, who are naturals and can freely take in the information of the photographer, a certain position in front of the camera. So while group shots require a small organization, encourage your family and friends to be as natural in positions that they take. Make sure that everyone fits in the frame, in a balanced manner and that their faces are clearly seen, tell a joke to relax the atmosphere and take more snapshots to capture that moment of natural smiles.
The best portraits remain, but those made spontaneous, so close you hold the camera to capture the funny, tender, even special when it happens.

Technicalities

Whether you use the phone or a camera, tripod is an ally when photographing groups of people - for stability, the correct distance to the group and, not least, use the shutter when you want to appear in the picture.
A wide angle lens (wide) will allow you to catch an extended framework without having to leave the room or the block to capture a scene. If you use your phone to take a photo there is good news - there are sets of special lenses, very easy to use, wide targets that mimic the effect, fish-eye or macro.
Black and white portraits are photographs timeless with a unique visual impact. Experiment with color versions - black and white photographs of the same, the differences may surprise you.
