Successful Romanian photographers at Sony World Photography 2017

The biggest photography competition in the world, Sony World Photography Awards, recently published the list of winners and finalists of the 2017 edition, the 10th, in the history of the contest. Organized in partnership with the World Photography Organization, Sony World Photography Contest is one of the most prestigious events in the area, affecting not only the careers of participants, but also public perceptions on events and debate with global impact.
Every year the competition is divided into multiple categories of images from nature, architecture or social issues or political portrait seen through the camera lens.

For many photographers, amateur or professional, attending Sony World Photography is an ideal ambitious. For some of them, the contest is a springboard outstanding, representing a globally recognized professional confirmation.

This year's Sony World Photography registered 227.596 entries, from 183 countries, a record number of participants in the history of the contest. Among them, we are very enthusiastic about the success and appreciation of the work of Romanian photographers who were winners and semi-finalists in multiple sections of the rigorous competition.

Romania National Award was won by Alex Andrieşi, (Section Open - Enhanced) for the photo "Fall from gravity".

Sorin Rechitan is one of the 10 finalists of the Open category Nature, photograph “Altai traveler” photo taken in the Republica Altai, Russia.

Ioana Moldovan and Adi Bulboacă were nominated among the semifinalists of the Sony World Photography Professionals section, the most demanding of competition. Photos entered in this section are evaluated for a range of 5 to 10 images that tell the story of a topic chosen by each photographer, placed in one of the 10 main categories (nature, portrait, social, etc.).

Ioana Moldovan was selected in the Professional category - Daily Life for his series of photographs that highlights the life of Dr. Floarea Ciupitu and Gangiova village community.

Adi Bulboacă is one of the semifinalists Professional category - Architecture, selected for his series of photographs highlights the architecture and atmosphere Silver Beach Hotel, located on Lake Balaton, Hungary.

Rareş Taciu is also a semifinalist in the competition section dedicated to young talents. Photo signed by Rares is included in the category Youth - Beauty.

Photographer of the Year and winners of all sections of the Sony World Photography Awards will be awarded during a gala held on April 20 in London.
Between April 21 and May 7 best photos of the competition will be presented before the public at an exhibition hosted by the prestigious Somerset House in the British capital. More details about the contest and exhibition program available on the official website of the competition.
